A Man of Extremes
About
Somewhere between the sauna and the snowbank, there is a thermostat set to 68 degrees. We have never met it.
A Man of Extremes started as a joke about a certain kind of person. You know the one. He owns three headlamps and no reading lamp. He will drive six hours to stand on a cold rock for eleven minutes, then sleep until Tuesday. He asks for the hot sauce with the warning label, then sweats through his shirt and asks if they have anything hotter.
That person is not hard to find. He is in your family. He may be holding this phone.
What we make
We make shirts, hoodies, hats, mugs, stickers and posters for people who run hot or cold and nothing in between. Every design here is drawn in-house and printed to order by our production partner, so nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing gets thrown away because we guessed wrong on sizes.
What we write
The field notes are about the actual doing: packing for a winter hike, building a heat ladder for hot sauce, setting up a backyard cold tub, planning a weekend that ends in a proper nap. They are written to be useful and to make you laugh, in that order on good days.
What we believe
- Being serious about the outdoors means being serious about safety. Big days are better when everyone gets home.
- A joke should punch at our own bad decisions, not at anyone else.
- Moderation is fine for other people. We wish them well.
